Whoosh Karawang Station Officially Opened on December 24, 2024

The Whoosh Karawang Station has officially commenced operations! This milestone marks an important step in improving transportation accessibility in Karawang and its surrounding areas. With this opening, all four stations within the Whoosh High-Speed Rail network are now fully operational to serve passengers.

Operated by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC), formerly known as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail (KCJB), the Whoosh High-Speed Rail aims to address several national transportation challenges. It is expected to reduce traffic congestion and strengthen intercity and regional connectivity, ultimately driving regional and national economic growth.

Whoosh Karawang Station Officially in Operation Since December 24, 2024

Whoosh Karawang Station began operations on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, as part of the efforts to enhance Whoosh High-Speed Rail services. This launch represents a strategic move to provide broader transportation access for the public.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Wang Lutong, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwaghandi, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Deputy Minister of Public Works and Housing Diana Kusumastuti, Deputy Minister of ATR/BPN Ossy Dermawan, and KCIC President Director Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi.

Initially, Whoosh Karawang Station operates with 20 daily train schedules: 10 departures from Whoosh Halim Station and 10 from Whoosh Tegalluar or Padalarang Stations. The travel time from Halim to Karawang is approximately 15 minutes, while the Karawang-Padalarang route takes only around 20 minutes.

According to General Manager Corporate Secretary KCIC Eva Chairunisa, the station accommodates an average of 400 to 500 passengers per day. The peak was recorded on December 29, 2024, when 777 passengers utilized the station in a single day.

Eva also noted that the Karawang-Padalarang route remains the most popular, with 1,389 passengers recorded, followed by Padalarang-Karawang with 996 passengers, and Halim-Karawang with 896 passengers.

Ticket Prices for Whoosh Karawang Routes

Tickets for the Halim-Karawang route start at IDR 125,000 for Premium Economy class. Meanwhile, tickets for the Karawang-Padalarang/Tegalluar route start at IDR 175,000 for the same class. Business Class tickets are available for IDR 450,000, and First Class tickets are priced at IDR 600,000.

Tickets can be booked through online platforms, including the Whoosh app, ticket.kcic.co.id, and partner apps such as Access by KAI, Livin by Mandiri, Brimo, BNI Mobile, and tiket.com. Offline bookings are available at ticket counters or through Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) at the station.

How to Access Whoosh Karawang Station

Passengers can reach Whoosh Karawang Station by private vehicle through Jl. Badami, then continue to Jl. Pasar Jati and Jl. Raya Pangkalan. Alternatively, smaller vehicles can use Jl. Trans Hexa Karawang before connecting to Jl. Raya Pangkalan. Additionally, the station has direct access from the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road via the Karawang Barat Exit KM 47, which connects to Jl. Trans Hexa Karawang.

Eva Chairunisa stated that these routes are ready for public use, and KCIC is working with stakeholders to develop additional access routes. Planned developments include access to Jalan Trans Hexa Karawang, Delta Mas, and the KM 42 toll exit.
